About Us

Welcome to Kappa Academy

Our History

In 1995, Michael Son, founder of Kappa Academy, opened up a small tutoring center in Bayside by Bell Blvd. He had started with only one student; however, it was with this one student, the seeds of Kappa Academy were planted. Now, Kappa Academy has expanded and assisted students from all over the world to go above and beyond their goals, both in academia and in life.

Our Mission Statement

Our mission is to educate and challenge our students so that they can learn how to survive and succeed as they become distinguished individuals and members of our society. We are committed to providing our students with rigorous study that meets their needs. We value the relationship between student and teacher in the classroom – stimulating group discussions, expanding intellectual curiosity, and increasing the level of mutual and self-respect amongst the students and teachers. We encourage the development and growth of self-confidence, passion for learning, and character. Kappa Academy challenges our students in mind, body and spirit to incorporate and instill the skills they acquire here and to sustain these skills for their futures.

Our Philosophy

In Kappa Academy, we teach, follow, and instill the “3 R’s”:

1) Respect

2) Responsibility

3) Reshape

We must learn to respect ourselves and each other. We must learn to take on responsibility and be responsible. We must instill respect and responsibility in ourselves so that we can reshape our lives for the better.

“Never regard study as a duty, but as the enviable opportunity to learn to know the liberating influence of beauty in the realm of the spirit for your own personal joy and to the profit of the community to which your later work belongs.” – Albert Einstein
